Information You Submit
Name, phone, or address entries in the search forms are sent to the third-party provider that supplies the results. Santa Barbara County Residents Directory does not keep a copy of those searches on its own servers. If you send a message through the contact route, the information in that message is available to answer it.
Automatic Technical Data
Hosting systems may record ordinary server-log details such as IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps. The information is reviewed in aggregate for reliability and page use. Cookies or similar tools may support basic analytics or, where applicable, advertising measurement.
How Limited Data Is Used
Technical data helps operate the pages, resolve errors, understand aggregate traffic, and improve the reference. We do not sell visitor lists or build a named profile of individual readers from these logs.
Links to External Services
The directory links to Santa Barbara County and California records portals, libraries, archives, courts, and third-party search tools. A linked service has its own privacy notice and controls what happens to information submitted there. Sponsored search results are supplied by a third party, not by the county reference.
Who May Process Technical Data
Hosting and support providers may process server logs to keep the pages available. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic data described above. Information is disclosed when a valid legal process requires it, and otherwise is handled for the limited purposes stated here.
Security Practices
The site uses an encrypted connection. Logs are retained only as long as the operational purposes need them. Because the reference has no reader accounts, it does not maintain a password or user profile that could be exposed from this site.
Readers Under 18
The reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor has sent information through the contact route, a parent or guardian can ask for it to be removed.
Your California Privacy Choices
California's Consumer Privacy Act, Civil Code section 1798.100 and following, may provide rights to know, correct, delete, or limit certain personal information held by a business. The deletion right appears in section 1798.105 and the opt-out of sale or sharing in section 1798.120, subject to scope and exceptions. The state Delete Request and Opt-out Platform is addressed in Civil Code section 1798.99.80 and following.
This reference keeps very little direct reader data. A request can be sent through the Contact page; the mailbox and relevant server logs will be checked for information held here. Public records maintained by California, Santa Barbara County, city offices, courts, or other custodians are outside this reference's control. Requests about those records must go to the office that created or keeps them.
Changes to This Policy
A revised policy will be posted at this address. Continued use after the revised text appears means the updated policy applies to later use of the reference.
